[00:01:51] Yeah, so I guess so burping, I guess we'll share a drink pairing, snack pairing. So our

[00:01:58] drink pairing, I found these cocktail bombs or like a bath bomb. Drop it into whatever

[00:02:05] alcohol you want. We did some vodka with my club soda and it fizzes up and

[00:02:11] it's fun. Yeah. Should we try it? I think we should try it. Definitely. All right,

[00:02:15] go ahead. You try it first. And we're using our signature color here is pink.

[00:02:31] did a drink pairing that would possibly make you burp. It kind of tastes like strawberry

[00:02:35] choc or soap. Oh, you're right. It's like a chalky. Are you sure that wasn't a bath bomb?

[00:02:44] No, I'm sure. That is so funny. That is quite the aftertaste. It's chalky.

[00:02:51] Maybe that's why they were in the clearance section. I think they might've gotten

[00:02:56] mislabeled. I have a strong aftertaste of soap. Because they were in the clearance

[00:03:04] section from Christmas and so everybody who got these for Christmas, I'm so sorry.

[00:03:10] Oh my goodness. That cool aunt thinking she's being so hip giving you these cool

[00:03:15] cocktail bombs and then just- Do I drink it or put it in my bath? They're just awful.

[00:03:19] All right. Well, we tried. We did. They were fun. The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

[00:03:28] episode was kind of like our inspiration for trying to reproduce the fizzy drink.

[00:03:34] So that was kind of where our thought process was with these drink bombs.

[00:03:38] Visually it was pretty. It was very pretty. It was exciting. Yeah. With mixed results.

[00:03:43] Yes. We did several test runs. There's a lack of consistency.

[00:03:48] Yes, we did our best. All right. So snack pairing. So I went on to Etsy

[00:04:11] anti-burping tablets, and it's just like candies inside. So do you want to open these? We can try

[00:04:24] medicine bottle. Does it have dosing instructions? Oh, does it? I didn't read that far on the

[00:04:28] label. Like, I don't think it's, we'll start with one. Yeah. We don't want to overdo it.

[00:07:29] year. Wow. And here's my favorite one. And this might be a little pop culture-y, but I

[00:07:35] thought it was a fun fact. In the movie, Revenge of the Nerds, boogers seven seconds

[00:07:41] contest-winning burp was actually a recording of a camel having an orgasm blended with a human belch.

[00:07:49] What? Yeah. That's insane to me. And I, you know, I can't, you know, this was on like a Reddit

[00:07:55] sub platform, so I'm not sure like where, how factual that is, but that's what was, was

[00:08:01] speculated who, imagine the DJ that remixed that. All right. Well, in today's jar, today's

[00:08:08] work. Here we go. Camel orgasm, human burp. Oh my goodness. All in a day's work. Yeah.

[00:08:27] since today we're doing this episode, like I woke up feeling kind of burpy. Like that's what

[00:08:32] I'm trying not to. It's kismet. Yeah. I don't know. Allergies.

[00:08:42] Tis the season. Well, and I've been using my new like Starbucks cup with a straw as my water

[00:08:48] cup straws. Yeah. Thank you for so ENT doctors hate straws. Really? Yep. Oh, I bet.

[00:08:56] All right. So I guess let's say for fun facts. So talking about how to burp,

[00:09:02] that's, I think it's your turn for physiology. Yeah. So physiology, um, burping also belching.

[00:09:11] It's a physiological venting of excessive gastric air or just like a release from the stomach

[00:09:19] through the mouth. That makes a sound and layman's terms and why it happens.

[00:09:26] When we digest our food, gas can be made from either a food breaking down or it could be that

[00:09:32] we're swallowing air. And, um, how it happens is that like when that gas builds up, it triggers.

[00:09:41] Okay. I was really excited to say sphincter on air. So when the gas builds up,

[00:09:49] a reflex is kind of triggered and it relaxes the esophageal sphincter.

[00:09:54] Okay. And then you just get this upward burst of air through the throat, right?

[00:10:00] And then that's where the magic happens. It travels through the upper esophageal sphincter.

[00:10:06] There it is again. I got to say sphincter twice on air.

[00:10:09] And then like a distinct, most of the time audible sound could be heard.

[00:10:15] So that, that is about it for physiology. Cool. Um, I can dig in a little bit to the

[00:10:21] psychology. If you want to do that next specific thing, you want to move to let's

[00:10:26] do history and then psychology. Okay. Sounds good. Keep things in order. Yeah.

[00:10:31] All right. So history. So this is kind of a tough one for history. At first I had no clue

[00:10:37] what to do for burping fetish history. We've been burping since the beginning of time.

[00:10:42] So there you go. That's so I mean, gorillas, gorillas started it right before we were human.

[00:10:48] Yes. So yeah, I did. I decided to do that. Just go way back. And so start from the beginning

[00:10:56] of time. Retacking BC. Or Christ. Yeah. So did ancient and cave people burp? It's hard to say

[00:11:03] for sure, but most likely yes. But with that being said, they certainly did not have any

[00:11:08] table manners back then. Like what we do now. So then that brought me to going over the

[00:11:14] history of table manners and etiquette about burping. Are you ready? All right. So the shift

[00:11:20] towards considering burping rude likely occurred gradually over time and varied across different

[00:11:26] cultures and social contexts in many ancient cultures, such as ancient Greece and Rome.

[00:11:31] Burping was not considered impolite. It might have been seen as a sign of satisfaction with

[00:11:36] the meal, like a compliment to the chef we said before. However, as societies evolved and

[00:11:42] etiquette standards developed, behaviors like burping started to be viewed differently.

[00:11:47] In Western societies, particularly in the Middle Ages and during the Renaissance,

[00:11:52] manners became increasingly important and behaviors like burping may have started to be

[00:11:57] seen as less acceptable in certain social settings. So by the Victorian era,

[00:12:04] in the 19th century, strict rules of etiquette were established and burping loudly or without

[00:12:09] apology became widely viewed as impolite, especially in formal settings.

[00:12:14] So now royal court entertainment, jesters, stuff like that. So in Renaissance courts,

[00:12:21] jesters and entertainers often relied on bodily humor to muse their audiences.

[00:12:26] Burping was definitely incorporated into it. Oh, by the way, a side note. So last week,

[00:12:34] Danny and I were at our local Frenchman's pub by our house and I was outside vaping and it's

[00:12:40] just outside Minneapolis, by the way. And I went outside and about 10 feet from me,

[00:12:45] there were a few bros having a burping and farting competition. Oh, I'm not even kidding.

[00:12:50] Like I was like, what is going on? Seriously? That sounds like a wonderful weeknight.

[00:12:59] It was something. So who won? I didn't stay out long enough to find out.

[00:13:04] I went back right inside. Nope, no thanks. The two kind of go hand in hand. They do. But

[00:13:13] they didn't see me there and like one way or the other. No, I think what disturbs me the most that

[00:13:18] they saw me there and they still decided to continue to do it. It's like they were trying

[00:13:23] to impress you. I'm not impressed. I went right back inside. Yeah. Anyway, so

[00:13:34] the term excuse me became popular during medieval times. If one was not able to literally

[00:13:41] excuse themselves from the room to burp or do any other bodily functions, they would just say

[00:13:46] excuse me after burping at the table. So moving further into the timeline, the Victorian era.

[00:13:54] So the entire Victorian era was characterized by elaborate social rituals such as formal

[00:14:00] dinners and gatherings where proper behavior was expected. In such settings, any breach of

[00:14:06] etiquette, including burping could be seen as disrupting the harmony of the occasion

[00:14:10] or reflecting poorly on the individual and their family. Not just you, you're representing

[00:14:15] your entire family. Do you think they thought that something bad would happen if they didn't

[00:14:21] say excuse me? Kind of like the origin of the sneeze. You know how like you say bless you

[00:14:25] for sneezing and the origin is like it's to ward off. I don't, I'd have to look up what

[00:14:30] the specifics are, but like I get what you're saying, but I think for the most part it's like

[00:14:34] more etiquette based. Yeah. And if you can't demons we're gonna think it's more like

[00:14:40] sometimes it smells like demons, but I don't know what demons in my stomach.

[00:14:45] I think you know something about that after the weekend, right? Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

[00:14:49] Yeah. But I think it was more so like you can't really control it. And so if you can't get up

[00:14:57] and get out of the room on time, like you got to say something, right? You know? So

[00:15:05] anything back then like food and stuff too was not as sanitary. So I'm sure there was way

[00:15:10] more definitely food and burping and yeah, or even just like, like lack of refrigeration

[00:15:16] and like think about foods that are fermented. Yes. Lots of fermentation.

[00:15:22] Fermentation. Because they had to. Yeah. Or salt exalted stuff. And yeah. To keep things just

[00:15:28] sanitary as they can. Yeah. They're preserved. Right. Yeah. So burping in manners was definitely

[00:15:36] a classes thing. The more proper etiquette you had, especially for fancy dinners and formal

[00:15:41] gatherings, the higher class you seemed. Coving your mouth while burping became popular in the

[00:15:46] Victorian era as a polite way to avoid the odor spreading from your burp to the rest of the

[00:15:52] table. Cause obviously you'd be disrupting a good vibe at the fancy dinner party.

[00:15:57] All right. Now onto the other side of burping etiquette. When people think it's funny to burp

[00:16:02] or to hear burps like at French bins the other night. So typically in theater, slapstick

[00:16:08] comedy children think it's funny along with some adults. I think it's very much a time and place

[00:16:14] sort of thing, but there's definitely both sides of the coin where some people think that it's

[00:16:20] hilarious. Another thing is disgusting and rude. I think I'm secretly like a nine-year-old boy.

[00:16:26] You think it's funny. Oh my gosh. Hilarious every time. I think it depends on where I am

[00:16:31] and who I'm with. Although burping in my profession, like I wake people up from surgery,

[00:16:39] so vomiting is pretty common. We never have a burp that just stays a burp. So if you hear

[00:16:45] someone burping, you're grabbing a bag because everything's coming up. That's just a start.

[00:16:51] Nothing stays a burp in my profession. But you got to laugh at it at some point.

[00:16:56] Oh yeah. Yeah, right. It depends on where you're at. Social setting. I'm sure there's a fetish for

[00:17:04] that too. Oh right, for sure. Oh there is. There is. Oh boy. We'll keep it mild for today.

[00:17:10] Yeah. We'll get there someday. Let's see. So here's some fun burping history moments.

[00:17:22] The burping cow of 1965. In a small town in Wisconsin, a cow named Bessie gained local

[00:17:29] fame for her extraordinary burping abilities. Visitors from neighboring towns would come and

[00:17:34] witness Bessie's impressive burps which were said to rival those of human contestants in

[00:17:39] burping contests. So on a sadder note, cow burps are actually hurting the environment.

[00:17:46] Mm-hmm. You heard about, you read about this? Yeah. So for all of our listeners, cow burps

[00:17:52] contain a lot of methane gas and with all the farms in the world with cows, it adds up to a

[00:17:58] lot of methane. That's a lot. Cows are responsible 15% of greenhouse gases in the world.

[00:18:05] So their burping definitely contributes to that. But they are coming up with a solution or

[00:18:09] trying to. It's kind of a sad one but they make them wear muzzles. Oh. To where? What?

[00:18:17] These muzzles are specially made to convert the methane gas into water and carbon dioxide.

[00:18:22] So I mean that's a good thing but it's also- Don't let cows have it bad enough.

[00:18:26] Right. That feels very vealish to me. It's a good solution but at the same time it's-

[00:18:30] Little cruel. Yes. Right. So I didn't know how I felt about that but those poor cows-

[00:18:37] Maybe some people need them.

[00:18:39] Totally right. Let's just put muzzles on these burping fool humans. Please.

[00:18:53] So they're also looking into changing the cow's diets like garlic,

[00:18:57] seaweed and stuff like that to prevent or change the outcome of the cow burps.

[00:19:04] Kind of like the wagyu beef has like an olive flavor.

[00:22:07] that drinks beer and can just do those big old man burps.

[00:22:11] And came across it too they find it masculine and yeah.

[00:22:15] And then also sometimes you'll see a lot of times with the burping fetish that they're

[00:22:19] combine them with like some of the other fetishes like they might have also integrate with farting

[00:22:26] or also even feeder fetishes because you know the consuming or eating is kind of where the magic.

[00:23:19] or forbidden like satisfaction.

[00:23:22] And then you also have sensory stimulation so for some it's the sound it's the sight

[00:23:28] or some people even like the vibration of the burp that could be arousing and

[00:23:36] that can include like the guttural sound of the burp or just seeing the physical act of

[00:23:40] someone burping.

[00:23:43] So and then also how like the physical sense plays into the psychology of it.

[00:23:51] The release of the air from the mouth might be pleasurable for some individuals

[00:23:57] and this can include both performing the act or experiencing it from a partner.

[00:24:09] So it can be pleasurable for the penetrative partner whether orally vaginally anally to feel

[00:26:26] For me as well because like I said professionally I'm traumatized where that

[00:26:32] burp is followed by something also.

[00:26:35] Yeah that you're hearing it at work all day.

[00:26:38] I get the reflex of like grab the barf bag.

[00:26:40] Right and like you're hearing it at work all day you don't want to go home

[00:26:44] and try to do research for this podcast and listen to it more.

[00:26:47] And there's a danger in that too because when you have people that can't protect their

[00:26:51] airway and they're vomiting it's like uh oh like I need to turn on the suction

[00:26:54] grab a barf bag so like whenever I hear that little warning it can be

[00:26:59] triggering for me for like safety reasons.

[00:27:01] Yeah no for sure.

[00:27:04] Okay so first of all what a life for all of you content creators for this like

[00:27:09] you just get to eat food and drink carb name beverages all day and get paid for it.

[00:42:45] through your mouth until you feel an air bubble in your throat then block the front

[00:42:48] of your mouth with your tongue and release the air slowly relax relax your your muscles

[00:42:55] and take slow deep breaths um apply gentle pressure gently press on your stomach just

[00:43:02] blow your rib cage to encourage the raised sleeve gas uh yeah that's pretty much it oh I read
